Our favourite foodie heaven in Melbourne

You can read a top 10 favourite places to go in Melbourne written by 5 different people and you'll find it rare to have the same thing twice. That isn't because we don't all agree, it is simply because you're so spoiled for choice when you eat and drink your way through Melbourne's stunning city, beautiful botanic gardens and ultra-cool suburbs.

If you're heading there soon then Chantal wrote just a few suggestions of places to go below, and while there are so many amazing choices, here are some awesome suggestions on where to start.

1. Vegie Bar(Official Page) Brunswick St, is by far one of the best (and most affordable) vegetarian and vegan restaurants. Don't stress if there is is a waiting list, just relax in the back bar with a kombucha cocktail.

2. Drugstore Espresso on Toorak Rd gave me the best brekkie ever. Beetroot and quinoa fritters on pumpkin and cauli purée, great coffee and epic service. If you're staying in South Yarra like we were, then this can't be missed and is an easy 3 minute walk to Chapel Street.

3. Take a trip up to the slightly secret 55th floor of the Rialto building on Collins Street in the CBD, to Lui Bar with an intimate group or your loved one. You can see the entire city from a very sophisticated cocktail bar and enjoy one of the best margaritas in the city.

4. Tall Timber was so delicious and the brekkie board is great value for money. Amazing coffee and an awesome location makes for a great brunch date (image above).

5. Prahran Market is THE place to go for fresh produce, organics, chocolate, homeware, and organic coffee. Be like the locals and pick up a box (not plastic bags) to get all your fresh food for your stay.

6. Lucy Liu Kitchen and Bar is a perfectly trendy way to enjoy CBD nightlife in Melbourne with some of the best Asian dishes and cocktails available. I was blown away with the flavours from dishes I wouldn't traditionally choose.

7. Finally, Ichi Ichi Ku Izakaya was the most amazing Japanese I've ever eaten in Australia and trust me, I've eaten my way around as much Japanese food as possible. A walk away from our apartment, this was insanely delicious. Do not let the absolutely tiny premises put you off, it's well worth waiting for.

We loved Melbourne and a 4 day beak is just perfect for any couple or girls weekend. See the view from the Shrine of Remembrance in the Botanical gardens, an amazing place to get your morning training fix in before you eat and drink your way around.
